Members and Parents

As a group, we would not be able to provide the scouting we do without a great deal of support from parents. The majority of our leaders first came in to the group as parents of Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. Parents also provide necessary additional help through the parents rota, taking turns to help at weekly meetings; parental help is generally necessary, particularly in the younger age groups, to maintain safe levels of supervision at activities such as hikes, sleepovers and camps which take place away from our headquarters in Pantile Road. Finally, our major fundraisers the Oatlands Village Fayre in May and OatFest in October bring in much needed funds from the general public but are largely run by parents and ex-parents of our members. (The Oatlands Village Fayre is run jointly with the Guides.)
